Horseshoes is just one of the activities featured at the EngAGE annual Senior Olympics.

EngAGE specializes in the design, implementation and supervision of on-site social service and activity programs for residents of affordable senior housing communities throughout Southern California.

By focusing on activities that stimulate the mind, body and spirit — allowing residents to achieve more out of life — EngAGE’s programs help maintain wellness that could require more costly types of care, and promote residents’ ability to continue living happier, healthier, more independent lives.

This philosophy, which we call “active living in place” (as opposed to merely aging in place), also helps to stabilize the occupancy base by decreasing resident turnover.

Programs and activities currently offered under the auspices of EngAGE, which are available to all Western Senior Housing clients, include:

Experience Talk Radio Show	Music appreciation, dance and acting classes
Creative writing and storytelling classes	Arts and crafts programs
Nutritional cooking classes	Computer and internet training
Yoga and other types of exercise	Movie clubs
Gardening	Bible study and chapel services
Food bank	Volunteerism in the surrounding community
“Healthy lunch” program	“Resident relief” program
On-site medical check-ups, including periodic blood pressure checks and health-related education	Intergenerational mentoring programs involving residents with youngsters from local elementary schools

The programs offered by EngAGE are overseen by teams of caring professionals with a high degree of practical, hands-on experience and empathy with seniors and their needs, augmented by qualified experts in various fields. While many properties offer several different activities, typically led by an activities director, EngAGE provides college-level instruction by professional teachers with expertise from the surrounding community and from local colleges and universities.
